At the end of a graduate course in Mathematical Physics (Phys 509) at UIUC with Professor Michael Stone (Spring 2021), the class' final project was to read/summarize a paper using some of the math covered in the course (e.g., tensor math, differential geometry, topology, group representation theory, complex analysis, etc.). I wrote my term paper on recent work which developed a method to classify topological materials from (almost) pure group representation theory. Link to my summary
